Townsend Harris Academics

It is our expectation that a strong base in the humanities, bolstered by mathematics, science, and the integration of current technology, will equip students to tackle the ethical and intellectual challenges of the next generation. Our students must complete a rigorous humanities-focused academic curriculum that includes the study of at least 3 years of math, science and 2 languages. Our rich elective program enables students to pursue their passions, regardless of subject area.

Excellence permeates everything our students engage in from academics to athletics and fine arts. Over 20% of our students engage in Intel-level research, many winning high honors in these competitions. Additionally, our students win leading prizes in the National Latin/Greek competitions. Annually we have athletic teams that rank in the top 5 teams in the city. We adhere to the belief that a quality instructional program is one that moves students beyond the conventional classroom.
