Honors Regents Physics

SP1 and SP2


This one year course in Regents Physics is designed to provide a students with an understanding of basic physical principles. Eleven core topics are covered: Mechanics, Energy, Electricity & Magnetism, Wave Phenomena, Modern Physics, Motion in a Plane. Internal Energy, Electromagnetic Applications, Geometric Optics, Solid State Physics, Nuclear Energy. Additional enrichment topics are also covered to help students prepare for the SAT II.

It is recommended that strong Physics students who will not be continuing on in their study of Physics take the SAT II in early June. The Department offers small group review classes to assist those students preparing for this exam.


This one-year course terminates in a mandatory Regents Examination. Students must satisfy the New York State Regents Laboratory Requirement to be eligible to take the Regents exam. Biology classes meet six periods a week, once per per week before or after (0 or 10th period) the school day.
