The
Townsend Harris Science Faculty
established our chapter of New York State
Science Honor Society in 2003 to recognize
the wonderful achievements of our students
in the Sciences. We are very proud to have
inducted 190 students who have met the our
chapter's stringent requirements (see
below) into the Townsend Harris Chapter of
NYSSHS last March. More than 500 students
have been inducted into our chapter since
its establishment three years ago.
Our
goals are to enhance knowledge and
understanding of science by promoting and
celebrating scholarship and characater;
stimulate the desire to render service
within the school and community through
peer tutoring, participating in Science
Olympiad, Brain-Bee or Scientific
Research, or through working in a
medical/veterinary facility. It is our
hope that through this recognition,
students will be encouraged to continue to
study and learn science and, perhaps, seek
careers in science and
technology.
