Forensic Science
SFT1

Forensic Science focuses on problem solving, with special emphasis placed on the synthesis of information gathered through experimentation and forensic research methodologies, to propose theories and develop evidence-based conclusions. Students will learn about crime scene analysis and will used technology in developing their understanding of forensic science.


Students will be given access to current forensic science equipment such as DNA electrophoresis. Students will write reports that record their results, conclusions and analyses of case studies and investigations they conduct.


Syllabus

Pre-Requisites: Regents Biology, Chemistry. Students may take this course concurrently with Physics (see Restrictions below).

Restrictions: This course is open only to juniors and seniors.

  • Students who are taking this course concurrently with Physics I must have received a grade of 85% or higher in Chemistry I.
  • Students who are taking this course concurrently with Physics II must have passed Physics I and earned a 77% average in Chemistry I and II.

All candidates must have the approval of the Department Supervisor
